Shaykh Mawlana Munir Ahmad (Allah preserve him) said,

‘Sheikh al-Hadith Mawlana Zakariya (Allah have mercy on him) use to say that when someone talks bad about you or denigrates you and it does not instantly provoke you, then it can be assumed that your islah (reformation of morals) has been accomplished.’
