Urdu Naat/Nazm by Hafiz Ahsan Ameen. These Urdu Nasheeds, Nazams are excellent.
The word Urdu itself comes from the Turkish word ordu, "tent" or "army", from which we get the word "horde". Hence Urdu is sometimes called "Lashkari Zaban" or the language of the army.
Wherever Muslim soldiers and officials settled, they carried Urdu with them. Urdu (along with Persian) enjoyed commanding status in the literary courts of Muslim rulers and nawabs, and flourished under their patronage, partially displacing Sanskrit as the language of religious intellectuals in Indian society. Urdu was established as the national language of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the hope that this move would unite and homogenize the various ethnic groups of the new nation. The Urdu language is quite similar to Hindi, India's national language.
Urdu contains quite a few elements of Arabic and Persian. There is also some Sanskrit involved which is still spoken to this day in Pakistan's city of Multan. Urdu is a beautiful language and is very poetic.
There are various Islamic literature to be found in the Urdu language and is taught as one of the main languages within the Islamic schools in Asia and the West.
The were quite a few famed poets using the Urdu language such as Allama Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Some of the Urdu Nasheeds to be found at islamise.co.uk are by some of these great poets.
